In just three years, Kimberly Scott reached $5 million in sales and a spot on Inc. Magazine’s 500/5000 fastest growing companies list. With a crumpled wad of $40 in cash, a single Sam’s Club freezer and a website domain, Scott launched The Great Gourmet, an online business selling a variety of food products including seafood, meats, soups and more.
A woman business owner in a male-dominated industry, Scott set out to differentiate herself in the seafood world. With a background in marketing, human resources and managing, Scott took those skills to launch The Great Gourmet in 2003. Scott later found her niche by selling her products through QVC and the Home Shopping Network and took her 6 product business to a million dollar crab cake and fulfilment company with a sales increase of 100% and over 50 employees.
An award winning female entrepreneur, Scott’s numerous achievements include SBA’s Exporter of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year for the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce, a Top 100 MBE State of Maryland lister and recipient of INC Magazine’s Fastest 50 Growing Companies.

My name is Jerrie Bey Taylor, owner of Lion Heart Public Adjustment. As a Licensed Insurance Public Adjuster I assist Business and Homeowners with their insurance claims, making sure they are treated fairly and fully compensated for disasters that are sudden and accidental in their homes or businesses bringing them back to pre loss condition. As an Entrepreneur, Ive been been helping people for years in different aspects of life.As a young child I was always the helper, from helping out my mother with my younger brothers, helping my teachers with the students to helping my friends with whatever needed to be done.
In my professional career I've always held leadership positions which allowed me to make decisions for others that I would otherwise not have been able to do. During Hurricane Sandy a friend of mine introduced me to this profession, initially I didn't quite understand it so I didn't jump at the opportunity but later I had a chance to work with my friend's company and saw first-hand how rewarding Public Adjusting can be.Fast forward 2 years later, I decided to get my license, start my own company and Lion Heart Public Adjustment was born. We've helped families across Maryland and the Eastern Shore with busted pipes, fire, smoke damage, melted siding and roof claims just to name a few! If it's sudden and accidental we can handle it.
As an added service we at Lion Heart Public Adjustment perform Free Home Inpections and Free policy reviews to make sure Home and Business owners have enough coverage. We also travel up and down the Eastern Shore performing home seminars at churches, real estate offices and different businesses.
Kathy Lill is a co-owner of award-winning Tidewater Cleaning Service located on and serving Maryland’s beautiful eastern shore. She started the business six years ago with Nicole Dull when faced with a career cross-roads and the realization that there was a real need for a professional cleaning service in the mid-shore area. After spending 24 years working various jobs in administrative and sales areas that she had “fallen into”, an unexpected opportunity changed her professional life. She took her strong work ethic, her desire to learn and grow, and her problem-solving expertise and applied it to her new endeavor.
Kathy loves the challenges each day brings, and attributes the success of her business to her relentless pursuit of total customer satisfaction. As a woman, she is proud to provide 30 local women with jobs and opportunity to grow along with her business. You can find out more about Tidewater Cleaning service at tidewatecleaningservice.com, or contact Kathy directly at 410-200-0290.
Born and raised in Pensacola, Florida as the youngest of six, I've always enjoyed being near the water. My home on the Eastern Shore couldn't be a better fit! Currently anchor the 12:30 PM weekday newscast and co-anchor the 47 ABC News Hour weekdays from 5:30PM-6:30PM. I started in broadcast journalism more than a decade ago while in school in Tallahassee at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. I worked as a production assistant and assistant producer while also doing some on-air community calendar pieces at the local CBS affiliate, WCTV. As a student journalist, I covered the 2000 Presidential election where the Florida recount became synonymous with the infamous hanging chad. After graduating from FAMU with a Broadcast Journalism degree, I crossed the railroad tracks and went to work at the local ABC affiliate, WTXL, as a one woman band reporter.
During my tenure at that station, I worked as a reporter and covered the monumental right to life case of Terri Schiavo and the 2008 Presidential election which resulted in this country's first African-American president. I was also a producer, host and anchor. I was most grateful to be a part of the everyday lives of various communities of people, being in a college town allowed me to accomplish another one of my biggest joys, mentoring college students at both the station and local universities. I remember writing in my high school memory book that I wanted to be doing Peter Jennings' job in 10 years. Well, I am, and I couldn't be more content! My work is a definite "get to"! Of course when there is down time, I enjoy spending it with my family, traveling, listening to live music, photography, sitting on the beach, writing and reading!
