Part-time Business Counselor

Position Summary

Provide financial and strategic advice to start-up and existing small businesses on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Additional duties include assisting in the development and presentation of training to entrepreneurs at MCE training activities, networking within the community to develop clients and business service contacts, and promoting MCE and the small business enterprise in the region.

At a minimum, a bachelor's degree in business - related field and/or 5 years experience as a business counselor/consultant and/or 5 years experience running a profitable small business is required. Applicants must also have an excellent business sense and keen communication skills. Applicant must have knowledge of the geographic area and be able to travel in your own vehicle. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a variety of clients. Must have knowledge of resources available to assist small businesses. Must demonstrate knowledge of and experience in the development of business plans and projections is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft office programs, such as Word and Excel is a must. Must possess a driver’s license that is valid in the State of Maryland in order to travel throughout the region.
